Leprosy Mission

For many years, members of St John’s congregation have supported the work of The Leprosy Mission.
In September 2014 the PCC resolved that our contribution could be more effective if we supported a particular project rather than contributing to the charity’s general funds.
The project chosen was ‘Farming God’s Way’ based around Cabo Delgado in Mozambique.

Farming God’s Way was a very successful project and was superseded by Hubs of Hope in which groups of local people took over the education and assistance of those suffering from leprosy in their area. Once ste up they no longer needed funding from The Leprosy Mission.

In around 2023 it was decided to continue our support of The Leprosy Mission in Africa and contributions now go the the Chanchaga Orthopaedic Workshop, to produce mobility aids and assistive devices for people with leprosy-related impairments, in Nigeria.
