1st June - A Message from Bishop RobBishop Rob Gillion

As most of you know I was invited by Bishop Christopher, Bishop of Lincoln, to serve this parish as a half time interim minister and to be an Assistant Bishop for the Lincoln Diocese.

The agreement was that I would be here for eighteen months, no longer. Then it was expected that a full time Vicar would be appointed. Well the time is coming.

As I was praying for the next chapter of ministry the Bishop of Southwark in London approached me and asked if I would consider taking up the role of an Assistant Bishop with responsibility for the Arts and to be Vicar of Christ Church Streatham Hill, (which the acting Bishop of Lincoln, Bishop David  said was ‘a Rob shaped ministry.’)

I hope you might say the same thing about my ministry with you!

Janine and I have given much thought and prayer to the idea and I have accepted the challenge and will be licensed at Christ Church Streatham Hill  on Sept 10th. My eighteen months with you is up at the beginning of September. My last service with you will be a Sunday in August to be decided, which I hope won’t be virtual!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent with you and so has Janine, and we will leave something of our hearts behind and take your love with us.

You are now in the process of appointing a new Vicar, although the present situation has proved a challenge I know one is waiting in the wings!  I know you will invite the Holy Spirit to guide and support you.

With every blessing,

Bishop Rob
